London – March 2018 - Data privacy and risk management company Egress Software Technologies today announced it has been officially accepted as one of the 26 businesses in cohort 6 of Future Fifty. Run by Tech City UK, this prestigious programme has previously supported some of the UK’s leading late-stage digital businesses, building a reputation as a community of exciting companies to watch.
To be recognised alongside an alumni that includes Zoopla and Just Eat, prospective organisations must prove they are headquartered in the UK and be able to demonstrate rapid year-on-year revenue growth. Once the criteria have been met, a group of luminaries from the world of tech, venture, big business, academia and government assess the underlying business.
Those that impress the panel are inducted into the Future Fifty. This exclusive set of businesses have access to a peer ecosystem and set of resources designed to fuel rapid expansion, featuring everything from workshops to expert classes.
Future Fifty’s track record for supporting successful tech businesses is undisputed. Of those in the programme since 2014, the record includes:
- Five IPOs on the London Stock Exchange
- 23 M&As of which seven in the last year, including MatchesFashion.com (acquired $1bn), JustGiving (acquired $120m) and shazam (acquired $400m).
- Over $5.5bn raised in funding, including $1.7 billion in 2017
- The companies have created 27,000 jobs around the world, demonstrating the extent to which tech is rapidly creating jobs and wealth throughout the UK, and have offices in 59 countries
Parveen Dhanda, Programme Lead for Future Fifty at Tech City UK, said: “We’re delighted to welcome 26 new exceptional high-growth companies onto the Future Fifty programme for 2018, and to welcome back 24 of last year’s experienced participants. The Future Fifty class of 2018 includes companies from right across the UK, operating in sectors as diverse as cutting-edge fintech solutions and innovative music hardware. But all these companies face common challenges in scaling their teams and operations and share an ambition to build world-beating global digital businesses.
“The Future Fifty will get access to some of the world’s leading innovators and experts in the form of our advisors and partners and join a powerful network of the UK’s fastest-growing late-stage digital businesses, working to grow further, faster, together.”
Commenting on the news, Egress CEO Tony Pepper states: “We are delighted to have been selected to be part of such a prestigious group of UK technology businesses. None of this could have been achieved without our rapid rate of expansion and growth in the UK and internationally over the last three years. It also represents a fantastic endorsement of the innovative approach we have taken to data security and the value we deliver to customers, something that has always been at the foundations of our business.
“This news follows our recent selection in the Microsoft ScaleUp program. To have access through both programmes to the team at Microsoft and the Future Fifty peer network will allow us to continue the rapid development and growth of our business both in the UK and internationally.”
