According to a recent Egress survey, 99% of cybersecurity leaders are feeling stressed about email security. This is understandable given that 93% of organizations experienced email security incidents in the past year.
Out of these incidents, 91% were due to phishing attacks, with malicious payload, social engineering, and supply chain compromise being the top three types of attacks. Additionally, 60% of organizations fell victim to Account Takeover (ATO) attacks, while 86% suffered negative impacts from phishing attacks.
Furthermore, 91% of the organizations surveyed reported incidents caused by human error and data exfiltration. The leading causes of outbound security incidents were reckless or risky behavior, human error, and supply chain compromise. Within this group, 64% of organizations had their internal information barriers breached, and 86% suffered negative impacts following outbound data loss.
