Remote working: email security in this new reality

Tony Pepper | 27th Apr 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has, for the time being at least, fundamentally changed the way we work. Our teams are no longer just spread across office hubs, but each individually working remotely - from home offices, dining room tables and, yes for a few, their sofas!

As a result, the security threats and risks faced by organizations has also changed dramatically - particularly when it comes to email. Corporate email accounts form the backbone of communication for every business - and we're relying on them more than ever in this time of large-scale remote working. As part of my COVID 19 and remote working series of videos, I want to bring into the spotlight the email security risks that every business faces in the current environment – watch the video to find out more.

As part of the COVID-19 series, in this vlog we're going to focus on the additional risks that every business is facing in a remote working environment.

There are two applications I rely on all day. The first is video conferencing which we've talked about in another vlog, but the second is email. I live and breathe an email now more than ever, communicating internally and with customers. But actually with that comes risk - risk exploited by individuals looking to perhaps compromise accounts, but also the risks by employees just making mistakes. Egress can help with both of these risks, and we do use contextual machine learning that looks for anomalous behavior and then proactively prevents a security breach before it happens. If you are interested in learning more please use the details on the screen now and we'd love to talk.
