5 reasons you should attend the Human Risk Summit 2024

Egress | 7th Oct 2024

On October 17th, 2024, we will host the fifth annual Human Risk Summit. This year's theme centers on the personalization of cybersecurity and explores how human behavior shapes the evolving landscape of cybersecurity.

Here are 5 reasons you should join us on the day and what you can expect to take away from the event. (And if you haven’t signed up yet – save your spot now!)

1. Our expert speaker line-up

This year, we are excited to welcome global thought leaders, including:

  • Sarah Armstrong-Smith, Chief Security Advisor for Europe at Microsoft, who will deliver the keynote session on AI
  • Featured speaker Jess Burn, Principal Analyst at Forrester, who will share insights the need for behavioral-based email security

For our customer panel, our Chief Customer Officer, Sudeep Venkatesh, will be joined by:

  • Giles Thornton, Head of Information Security at The Premier League
  • Alexis Ternoy, Chief Information Officer at Endeavour Mining

Finally, we have special guests from KnowBe4, including:

  • Stu Sjouwerman, CEO, who will join Egress CEO Tony Pepper for a fireside chat on the power of personalization
  • Erich Kron, Security Awareness Advocate at KnowBe4, will team up with our SVP of Threat Intelligence, Jack Chapman

2. Gain actionable insights and practical advice

Without a doubt, you will gain key insights into the cybersecurity landscape. For example, Sarah will reveal how attackers are exploiting AI to their advantage; Giles and Alexis will share their thoughts on how human behavior can drive risk; and Jess will break down why social engineering remains such a powerful weapon in the attacker’s arsenal.

However, what are insights without action?

So, in addition to key takeaways, you will leave the summit with practical advice from industry experts on how to stay ahead and protect your organization against advanced threats.

  • Jess will share how security teams can implement small changes to turn security liabilities into security heroes.
  • Erich will explore how organizations can integrate people, technology, and policies to create effective cyber strategies.
  • Stu will explain how teams can leverage extensive data pools to create a holistic view of risk across an organization and provide individualized risk profiles.

3. Learn how attackers are harnessing AI and how to respond

It is difficult to talk about cybersecurity in 2024 without referencing AI, which is why this key theme runs through many of the sessions at this year’s summit.

In particular, Sarah’s keynote session, ‘AI and Us,’ will explore how AI has evolved over the years, the specific ways cybercriminals exploit AI, and how organizations can leverage it in their defenses. In this session, you’ll also gain insights into ethical AI practices and the importance of collaboration and innovation in staying ahead of cyber threats.

Jess and Erich will also touch on this theme, highlighting how AI has increased the scalability of phishing attacks and allowed attackers to enter new markets.

4. Understand why thought leaders agree that the future of security is personal

In line with the theme of the summit, “This Time It's Personal,” our session speakers will explore the current shift many organizations are making to personalize their email security.

In particular, Tony and Stu will examine how tailored training and security measures can make security defenses more relevant and effective, while Jack and Erich will analyze how we can leverage AI to provide customized training programs tailored to individual proficiency levels.

5. See how real-time data transforms email security

Finally, Egress’ Head of Innovation James Sheldrake and Senior Solutions Engineer Hannah Hoskins, will give us a cutting-edge product demonstration, showing how you can tailor your email security and training using live threat data and behavioral analytics.

Even for those joining us who aren’t customers of Egress or KnowBe4, this demonstration will provide a fantastic example of how organizations can implement what Stu often refers to as “platformization”: integrating various security functions into a single platform to enhance efficiency and effectiveness while offering a broader understanding of human risk within their organizations.
